Storm on a Sperm Whale's Tooth
An early 19th century spermwhale tooth scrimshaw decorated with a ship in a storm the bowsprit and formast topmast broken, the mizzen mast lost overboard. A great wave crashing over mid-ship. To the left of the image is the same vessel from the stern, in calm waters. English or American circa 1820. approx. 5 inches in length x 2.25 in wide.
